Happy Winter Quarter! To start off the new year, we want to take the time to provide you with resources and information to onboard new employees you may be hiring during the year. As a University, we want to make sure our employees are set up for success from Day 1, and you are an important part of making that happen! We value your participation in the hiring and onboarding process to ensure our new employees have a smooth transition from their previous role to their new career at DU.

What is orientation and why does it matter?

Orientation is a 3.5-hour training session that welcomes employees to the University on their first day of employment. We provide information about the mission, vision, and culture of the University, as well as a list of action items to complete in PioneerWeb and Pioneer@Work. The second half of orientation covers benefits and our wellness program. Orientation currently takes place remotely via Zoom and will be remote for the foreseeable future. How do I register my new hire for orientation?

To register employees for orientation, log in to PioneerWeb, click on the Employee tab, and then click on Employment Actions > Orientation/Onboarding > Orientation Registration Form. This will provide us with the information we need about their hire date, job title, and manager.

When should I submit the Orientation Registration Form?

You should submit the Orientation Registration Form on behalf of the new faculty member as soon as you know your new employee has been hired by the Recruiting team. This gives us time to send them a welcome email and send their orientation invite well in advance of their orientation date.
