University Writing Program: Learn More About Warren and Judy Self-Teaching Awards

Feb 17, 2024

By: Sheila Carter-Todd, Executive Director, University Writing Program & Associate Professor of English

Thanks to a generous gift from the Hatherly family, the University Writing Program is offering the 2nd Annual Warren and Judy Self Diversity, Access, and Inclusion Teaching Award.  These awards are designed to recognize faculty (teaching and professional faculty or tenure line) who have demonstrated excellence in creating diverse, accessible, and inclusive classrooms through content, materials, writing assignments, and pedagogical practices.

One award will be presented to a DU faculty member outside of the Writing Program teaching undergraduate courses. The winner will be awarded $2,500 and be featured in the University Writing Program and Office of Teaching and Learning publications.

To be considered for an award, an applicant must be nominated by their department chair/head or program director.  The nominator will collaborate with the nominee to compile and submit requested materials for consideration.  The application Qualtrics and more information can be found here – Self Teaching Award Submission. Applications are due be February 25, 2024.

As is the case with many university-based awards, nominees from the previous year, who submitted materials, do not need to do so again this year. Your materials will be added to this year’s materials for award consideration.
