On October 12th , the Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL) and Provost Mary Clark hosted the inaugural annual SoTL Research Symposium, which was the culmination of the yearlong SoTL scholars program. The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) involves systematic research in pedagogical and curricular design, as well as the empirical evaluation of practices that affect student learning. SoTL research is an example of reflective practice in higher education particularly when it is publicly shared and reviewed by a community of peers. The SoTL Research symposium inspired faculty members to embrace informed teaching practices and to participate in DU’s community of scholarly teachers. Completed SoTL research projects were presented in poster form by the SoTL 2022-2023 Faculty Fellowship program participants. At this year’s symposium, there was teaching, learning, and the forming of collaborative relationships.
