Hope Wisenski is leading a cohort this fall of campus faculty leaders who will be engaging the “Art and Science of Exceptional Team Leadership.” Thanks to Hope for her facilitation, and for sharing an insight from the course here:

“As managers, we hold the pivotal role of nurturing growth and development in our team members. However, at times, our effectiveness is hindered when we fail to provide clear and constructive feedback. Offering feedback can be challenging for various reasons. It could be due to a difference in age or experience compared to the person receiving the feedback, a sense of comfort (or lack of comfort) in our leadership role, or our natural inclination to seek approval and avoid causing discomfort.

Nevertheless, it is imperative to remember that giving feedback is a crucial aspect of fostering progress. It enables individuals to make incremental improvements, enhance their overall effectiveness, and advance their careers. To navigate this process effectively, consider the following tips:

Great feedback is……

  • Kind

  • Timely

  • Concise”
