The APT is a living document. Thus, every few years, it is updated to include the most recent slate of amendments. Two amendments to the Policies and Procedures Relating to Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (APT) were approved by the Faculty Senate by unanimous consent on March 18, 2022, and by the Board of Trustees in April 2022. Here is a summary of the two amendments:
- The One-year Extension Amendment specifies that
- Faculty in the Professorial Series in University Libraries, Teaching Professorial Series, Clinical Professorial Series, Professors of the Practice Series, or Research Professorial Series who were first appointed during the 2020–2021 or 2021–2022 academic year and who are up for review for reappointment later than the 2022–2023 academic year qualify for a one-year extension in their contracts. Please see the amendment for details.
- Tenure-line faculty without tenure who were first appointed in the 2020–2021 or 2021–2022 academic years and whose review for tenure and promotion is scheduled for 2023–2024 academic year or later qualify for a one-year extension before that review. Please see the amendment for details.
2. The Amendment for Special Circumstances specifies that faculty in the Professorial Series in University Libraries, Teaching Professorial Series, Clinical Professorial Series, Professors of the Practice Series, or Research Professorial Series may apply, under special circumstances, for a one or two year extension in their contracts. Please see the amendment for details.
