Recognizing and Rewarding Inclusive Teaching in the Evaluation Process

DU welcomed equity and inclusion scholar, Dr. Kim Case, as part of the 2022 Provost’s Conference Series on Friday, April 15th. Dr. Case gave a keynote address on inclusive teaching and how “equitable and inclusive teaching practices challenge traditional assumptions about the classroom, the role of the professor, and student roles.” Because DU is deeply committed to inclusiveness and creating a diverse, ethical, and intellectually vibrant campus community, valuing inclusive teaching is mission critical. Along with the other teaching-focused speakers in this series, Dr. Case informs the work of the Teaching Excellence Task Force and the Departmental Action Teams (DATs), as we advance campus-wide discussions about how teaching will be valued (and evaluated), including mentoring, advising, and student support. See Dr. Case’s keynote and other recordings from the series here.
