The Chair Advisory Board (CAB) sponsored two meetings during fall 2021 to support and inform the work of chairs and directors.

CAB facilitated a Provost Town Hall on October 6, 2021, providing the opportunity for chairs and directors to hear directly from the Provost on issues of high import, and to offer feedback and insights on those issues. In the meeting, Provost Clark engaged chairs and directors in a discussion about reenvisioning the ombuds role and discussed the 4D experience.

At the beginning of the fall quarter, CAB distributed a survey to chairs and directors to learn more about topics of interest for informal discussion in the Chairs and Directors Huddles. Based on rank-ordered responses, CAB focused the fall quarter Huddle on organizational culture. The group engaged in a robust discussion about defining culture within academic units and at the university level. University and unit-level strategies, gaps, and needs were identified and discussed. The next iteration of this conversation will likely take the form of a peer-to-peer, solution-seeking clinic.
