Over the last decade, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion leadership at DU has taken a variety of forms, but what has remained consistent is the importance of and need for a process that incorporates all areas—academic and business, learning and teaching, programs and services, research and governance—of the institution. As we move into this next decade, and in alignment with the DEI Action Plan, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is forming a DEI Steering Committee that will help us consider and construct new engagements toward threading this critical work into the very fabric of the university.
Within the structure of this larger steering committee, there are a series of working groups aimed at considering a series of unique experiences and/or areas with regard to the work of DEI on campus. One of those committees is dedicated to DEI Faculty Affairs and Development. This subcommittee will be co-chaired by Tom Romero and Kate Willink and includes associate deans and faculty. Its primary goal for this academic year is evaluating and strengthening the Faculty Institute for Inclusive Teaching (FIIT).
If you have any questions about the steering committee and/or the subcommittees, please feel free to reach out to inclusion@du.edu.
