DU began using Activity Insight/Digital Measures’ Workflow system for Annual Reviews for all faculty in fall 2019. The Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science also piloted their Promotion and Tenure process in Workflow in the 2019-2020 academic year in order to explore possibilities for moving the tenure and promotion process online. The Graduate School of Social Work will pilot the system with their P&T applicants in the 2020-2021 academic year.
The Workflow system tracks and manages the process, sending reminder emails at appropriate intervals, and moving the process through a customizable electronic workflow, from the applicant to the committee(s) and finally to the Dean. It allows for electronic management of all documents related to the process and has appropriate security and access to documents that are unique to each step. Workflow also allows P&T committees to share document access and collaborate within the system. The RSECS pilot went very smoothly, and the unit plans to continue using Digital Measures’ Workflow for Promotion & Tenure processes in the future.
