With support from our leadership and cross-campus partners, the Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL) proudly champions this powerful tool, providing direct support and resources to ensure you can make the most of UDOIT’s features. You might be wondering, what is digital accessibility?
Digital accessibility is the idea that all people should have the opportunity to access the same information and services in the digital environment without facing undue barriers or burdens.
Why is this important for you as a faculty?
Being proactive about digital accessibility allows for students to join your Canvas course and not experience barriers to accessing content, it also allows you to be more prepared for individual accommodation needs when they arise. Letters of Approved Accommodations (LOAA) from Student Disability Services (SDS) that include accommodations such as captions or alternate format text (AFT), will require that digital accessibility is practiced (meaning, you have to provide captions for your videos and make sure your readings can be digitally accessed and not just scanned).
