Faculty Learning Community: Teaching and Professional Faculty Tools for Success

October 30, 2020 at 3:00 am - 4:30 am MDT

The inaugural session of the Faculty Learning Community (FLC): Teaching and Professional Faculty Tools for Success was attended by 20 faculty. The purpose of the session was to begin building a community of teaching-scholars, identify the diversity of work settings, recognize and respond to the stress of this time and its impact on teaching, attend to social-emotional needs and provide tools for career and instructional success.

For upcoming sessions, the faculty in the FLC expressed interest in:

  1. Learning to navigate, for self and students, the unique context of our time which is rich with possibility, trauma, and social change,
  2. Connecting with others across the campus-divides to exchange teaching ideas and professional expertise as to feel less isolated, and
  3. To learn from each other concrete teaching skills and the ins and outs of promotion.

The remaining fall sessions are October 30th and November 20th . Winter and spring sessions will be set based on group teaching and administrative responsibilities. If you missed the first session and want to join the next one, you can register through OTL or contact Laura Sponsler (laura.sponsler@du.edu) or Paul Michalec (paul.michalec@du.edu).
