A Workshop for Department Chairs: Productively Resolving Conflict

Facilitated by Amit Mrig and Gary Meyer, Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs at Marquette University

This session is devoted to resolving conflict and will help participants learn about their own tendencies and approaches to conflict management through a validated diagnostic instrument. Workshop participants will better understand the situational nature of conflicts and the need to remain flexible for maximum effectiveness. Participants will also be introduced to a widely used method for resolving conflicts and will be given the opportunity to put it into practice through role-playing a variety of situations commonly encountered in higher education.
