On Monday, September 13th from 3:00–5:00 pm, Chairs Advisory Board (CAB) member Cindy Cragg, Academic Director of the Communication Management program at University College, joined Kate Willink and Alison Staudinger to offer a welcome and training for new chairs and directors at DU. The conversation included resources for new chairs, like the Chair Handbook and the CAB, which provides support including chair and director huddles, solution-seeking clinics, and quarterly meetings with the Provost.
New chairs were encouraged to share their hopes and fears for their new role, and to explore ways of structuring meetings and workload to equitably support faculty members. The group also discussed ways to maintain wellbeing as chair, while still completing the most essential and meaningful work.
