DEI as a Leadership Construct: Inclusive Leadership Strategies for Higher Education

January 24, 2023 - January 26, 2023

Many college campuses view diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) competencies as separate and apart from general leadership competencies. While striving to recruit a diverse workforce, many campuses fall short in recruiting or promoting leaders who obtain the specific skillset of leading from an inclusive lens.

This virtual conference is designed to give you a variety of tools to better support your entire workforce and to give yourself and the diverse team you supervise the best chance for success. Using Academic Impressions’ 5 Paths to Leadership Self-Assessment and doing a deep dive into Deloitte’s Six Signature Traits of Inclusive Leadership, you will receive tools for reflection, while also putting into practice an inclusive leadership framework. Additionally, speakers will highlight their own experiences and approaches in proactively building a leadership toolbox with DEI in mind—as well as the strengths that a diverse team brings to their campuses.

By participating in this event, you will learn how to:

  • Take an intersectional approach to break down barriers to professional success.
  • Create connections with staff from various backgrounds.
  • Build a network of diverse colleagues to help leaders navigate the complexity of building bridges across difference.
  • Define success and develop “mile-markers” for developing an inclusive culture.
  • Explore funding models to support inclusive leadership trainings for all leaders on your campus.
