Are you currently working on a writing project (or several)? Would grading in the company of other faculty make the process more enjoyable? Would working in a supportive community help motivate you to make progress on your writing and teaching goals? As we begin fall quarter and the start of a new academic year, the Faculty Affairs Faculty Writing Support program offers three types of groups to help faculty dedicate weekly time to their writing and teaching responsibilities. These groups are open to all faculty.
Writing Groups
Writing Accountability Groups (WAG) are small groups of 3-5 faculty who meet weekly to discuss their experiences as writers. Conversations center on strategic planning and goal setting, strategies for time management, and other aspects of professional development.
Write-in-Place (WiP) groups are flexible weekly sessions where faculty gather to write alongside colleagues from across campus. Work on a conference presentation, book proposal, grant application, or any scholarly, creative, or professional project. Faculty are welcome to drop in when your schedule allows; write for 30 minutes or the whole 3 hours!

Fridays (Sep 13 – Nov 15) – 9am-12pm – CCOM 2800 & Zoom

Teaching Groups
New this quarter, based on ideas from the Faculty Affairs Summer Symposium 2024, we are offering a teaching-focused group for faculty to gather in a supportive community of colleagues to work on preparing for class. Drop in when you have time in your schedule to grade or lesson plan alongside others. Join us in the Faculty Lounge in the Community Commons (CCOM 2800) to enjoy FREE coffee, tea, and snacks while you write or course prep!
